"The Order of Invisible Things" Agate Tūna
Agate Tūna "Neredzamu lietu kārtība" | 15.09.-30.09.
Agate Tūna turpina iesākto dzimtas attiecību izpēti (aizsāktu iepriekšējā darbu sērijā “Dīķu māja”), kas cieši saistīta ar pārdabisko. Mākslinieces vecvecāki bija dziednieki un zīlnieki, bet vecvectēva brālis melnais mags un viņa sieva - ragana. “Neredzamu lietu kārtība” ir mēģinājums atsegt netveramā klātbūtni, velkot paralēles notikumos dzimtas pagātnē ar fenomeniem, kas saistīti ar paranormālo fotogrāfiju un spiritisma vēsturi citviet Eiropā un Amerikā. Spiritisma seansi īpaši nozīmīgi kļuva Viktorijas laikmetā un plaši turpināja izplatīties abu Pasaules karu laikā, kad saziņa ar aizgājušajiem tuviniekiem kalpoja sāpju dziedēšanai un mierinājumam, savukārt Padomju telpā šīs spējas nācās slēpt. Tūna analogo fotogrāfiju izmanto kā mediju – abu pasauļu starpnieku. Caur eksperimentiem krēslainās stundās un zilganās mēness gaismās, fotosērijā tiek dibināti sakari ar maģiskā iemājošanu, ķermenisku klātbūtni un izgaismotām parādībām.
Agate Tūna (1996, Rīga) strādā starpdisciplināri, savos darbos izmantojot analogās un eksperimentālās (tai skaitā filmu zupas, ķīmijgrammas un fotogrammas) fotogrāfijas metodes, kā arī glezniecības un grafikas elementus. Apvienojot dokumentālās un mākslas fotogrāfijas, instalāciju un mutvārdu stāstniecību, mākslinieces darbos caur personiskās pieredzes prizmu atspoguļojas pārdomas par Latvijā postpadomju periodā populārām ezotēriskajām praksēm. Agate Tūna ieguvusi bakalaura grādu Latvijas Mākslas akadēmijas glezniecības nodaļā (2020) un absolvējusi ISSP fotoskolu (2022), kur apguva divu gadu programmu “Attīstot fotogrāfijas valodu”. Šobrīd Agate turpina studijas Maģistra starpdisciplinārajā programmā POST Latvijas Mākslas akadēmijā.

Agate Tūna continues the research of family relations (initiated in the series of previous works "Pond House"), which is closely related to the supernatural. The artist's grand-grandparents were healers and fortune tellers, while her great-grandfather's brother was a black magician and his wife - a witch. "The Order of Invisible Things" is an attempt to uncover the presence of the intangible by drawing parallels in the events connected to family's past with phenomena related to paranormal photography and the history of spiritualism elsewhere in Europe and America. Spiritist sessions became especially important in the Victorian era and continued to spread widely during both World Wars.
Communication with departed loved ones served as the healing of the pain and a sense of comfort for those who mourned. Meanwhile in the Soviet Union these abilities had to be hidden. Tūna uses analog photography as a medium - a mediator between the two worlds. Through experiments in twilight hours and bluish moonlight, the photo series establishes connections with magical possession, corporeal presence and illuminated phenomena.
Agate Tūna (1996, Riga) is a multidisciplinary artist whose artistic practice started from a suggestion of a fortune teller. Agate’s main choice of medium is analogue and experimental (filmsoups, chemigrams, photogram) photography, but she also works in
painting and graphic arts. Most of her work reflects upon the artist’s personal experiences. By combining documentary and fiction, Agate’s photography, installation, and verbal history
works focus on the post-Soviet popularity of esoteric practices. In 2020, she gained a BA degree in Arts from the Painting department in the Art Academy of Latvia an in 2022 graduated from her studies in the two-year programme "Developing Photographic Language" at ISSP school. Currently, Agate continues her studies in POST, an interdisciplinary MA programme at the Art Academy of Latvia (2021-2023).
