Kādus 30 gadus atpakaļ šīs ierīces atradās birojos, iestādēs un pat mājās, tomēr tehnoloģijas gadsimta beigās saka attīstīties tik strauji, ka sākoties 21. gadsimtam, Rīgas un arī citu pasaules pilsētu birojos rakstāmmašīnu jau gandrīz nebija un to vietu strauji aizņēma datori ar printeriem. Vecā tehnoloģija tapa aizmirsta un šobrīd atgādina par sevi tikai filmās, seriālos un muzejos. Vai tiešām rakstāmmašīnu laiks ir beidzies?

Mēs vēlamies piedāvāt apmeklētājiem iepazīties ar mūsu rakstāmmašīnu kolekcijas klāstu, kas ietver sevi rakstāmmašīnas no daudzām valstīm,– katru ar savām īpatnībām un formu niansēm. Šīs rakstāmmašīnas rāda to, kā attīstījās biroja drukas tehnoloģijas 20. gs. laikā no gadsimta sākuma līdz pat 1990. gadiem.

Pasākuma laikā būs iespējams pašiem izmēģināt uzrakstīt kādas rindas uz rakstāmmašīnas, kā arī sagatavot sev personalizētu pastkartīti. Šo visu būs iespējams izdarīt pie īpaši atzīmētām rakstāmmašīnām.

Some 30 years ago these devices were seen in various offices and even in some homes, but as the technological advancements went on so fast, with the beginning of 21st century almost no typewriters were seen in offices in Riga and in the most of major cities of the world, since personal computers took their place. This old technology became forgotten and now reminds of itself only in movies, other creative works and in museums. Has the century of typewriters really ended?

We would like to present our visitors with an opportunity to take a look at our typewriter collection that contains machines from a variety of countries- each with its own special design feature. These typewriters show how printing technologies had been developing in the offices around the world from the beginning of the 20th century up to the 90s.

It will also be possible to try out typewriting for yourself during the event, as well as to prepare your very own typewritten postcard for free. All of that will be available on specially marked typewriters.
